We have had a customer using the Metrel GammaPat with a later revision of Firmware (software) in the PAT Tester. It seems Metrel have changed the firmware to allow you to enter an Appliance Description in addition to the Appliance Id.

This looks like a really good enhancement to the GammaPat, if you are using a barcode scanner to enter appliance descriptions then it should be fairly straighforward to make use of this new field.

We have updated SimplyPats to recognise if the extra Appliance description is available in the GammaPat, if so SimplyPats will now download the appliance description or appliance abbreviation (shortcode) and import it into the Appliance Description field in SimplyPats.

The customer was using firmware version 1.41 and this was the first version of firmware that we have seen that has this extra Appliance Description field.

Richard.

Hi Total-Pat-Testing

Unfortunately I beleive you cannot download the firmware, Im pretty sure it has to go back to Metrel in order for them to do the upgrade.

I am not sure at what revision of the firmware Metrel added the extra field. Are you sure you don't already have it?

If not, Metrel's UK technical support department seem very good, Im sure they they will be able to tell you at which point they introduced the extra field and how to get your firmware updated if you want to start using the extra field.

Regards, Richard.
