What is KEWPAT for iOS and Android?KEWPAT for iOS and Android offers a solution to record PAT Testing Data Manually while using any PAT Tester, or in the case of the Kewtech SMARTPAT, allows the user to control the tester remotely via WiFi.
The App was developed by us (SimplyPats) and released under the branding of KEWTECH in 2018. It includes an extensive feature set within its 40+ screens, yet offers users a quick and easy method of recording detailed PAT Test data manually or automatically if using a Kewtech SMARTPAT in remote mode.
The App was developed to offer owners of the Kewtech EZYPAT, EZYPAT Plus and SMARTPAT a quick and easy solution to record PAT Test Data using popular mobile devises running Android or iOS Operating Systems, however it can be used to Manually Record PAT Test Data regardless of which Manual PAT Tester you are using.
The KEWPAT App is offered free of charge on both iOS and Android platforms and performs well on devices with modest hardware.
Manually Recording PAT Testing DataIn Manual Entry mode, KEWPAT has been designed with a logical process to allow speedy data entry.
You will first add the Company Name and Address of the location you are testing. The App is capable of storing a large number of Customers and Data, in fact during testing we added some 250,000 assets.
Once the Customer has been selected on the Main Screen, you can start entering data.
The Main Screen is where you will enter the Appliance Site and Location, Appliance id and Description. You then simply select the type of test by clicking on any one of the four large buttons for Class I, Class II, PRCD and IEC / LEAD Test, the App then displays Test Results screen for the selected Test Type.
By default, the status for each test is set to PASS. Test Limits and Results are already entered based on known Limits for the type of test (these can be edited). By default, the Result is set to greater or less than the Limit (Results can also be edited with the Status being updated automatically).
For example: Earth Continuity Limit set to 0.1, Result set to <0.1 therefore Status = Pass.
If you want to edit any of the Limits or Results this can be done via selecting a value from a list (via Long Press) or by selecting the existing value and entering a new one via the keyboard.
If you do not need to edit any of the data, simply select Save where you are returned to the Main Screen ready to record another test.
If you want to see it in action, have a look at the following video on YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2Ox7o540HARecording Extended informationThe above is a very basic explanation of how quick and easy it is to enter PAT Test Data while using KEWPAT, however in that example we did not cover two optional screens that can be displayed during the data input process; Extra Info and Visual Questions.
The Visual Questions screen allows you to record individual Visual Checks for Socket, Plug, Switch, Flex and Body, as well as Environment and Continued Use. While the Extra Info screen allows you to record Make, model, Fuse Rating, Appliance Serial Number, Price and Repair Codes and additional Notes.
Have a look at the Video in the above link to get a better understanding of the process.
Speeding up the data entry process even furtherThere are a host of other settings that can be set which may be helpful, such as the ability to carry the Appliance Description over to the next test, this may be very handy if you are carrying out a PAT Test on 50 IEC Leads in a row for example.
Not everyone uses Numeric Appliance Id’s, so we have added the option to display the keyboard layout best suited to the formatting of your Appliance Id (Numeric only or Alpha Numeric).
The above are just two examples of attention to detail that may help speed up data entry.
You can also use your device rear facing camera to scan in the Appliance Id if a Barcode is available. The Appliance Serial Number can also be scanned if you are recording this information.
KEWPAT also supports the ability to scan QR Codes that have previously been generated and printed out by the App.
NFC (Near Field Communication) support has also been added, with the ability to read and write to compatible NFC Tags if your device supports this feature.
The ability to scan Barcodes and QR codes, or reliability of scanning may also depend on your device hardware.
What other features does the KEWPAT App have? The best way to find out would be to download the App for yourself and have a play, after all it’s free.
We have added a number of KEWPAT videos on our YouTube Channel which give a good overview of how the App works
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNj0rH ... _polymer=1Do I also need to install some form of Windows Desktop software to process the data?Short answer No, however if you want the ability to manage your PAT Test data from your PC and generate detailed PAT Reports, you may want to consider SimplyPats Version 7 Full Downloading Edition or the cheaper SimplyPats Version 7 Manual Plus Edition.
