We will have a beta copy of SimplyPats V7 ready next week, which provides compatibility with Windows 8.

If you would like to have a copy of the beta please contact us on 01326 378268 or email support@simplypats.co.uk.

As always with any BETA software, check that the data downloaded from the PAT Tester is correct and make regular backups of critical program files and PAT Data. This backup procedure is especially important if you are Manually Entering data as no automatic backups are created.

We cannot guarantee that the BETA is stable and only recommend that it be used for testing purposes. Please contact support if you have any issues using the BETA, your feedback is extremely important.

SimplyPats V7 Beta for Windows 8

We have now (as of 28th November 2012) supplied and installed a SimplyPats V7 Beta for use on Windows 8 for a couple of our users.

SimplyPats 7 will not be officially released until early in 2013, however if you buy a new Windows 8 PC and need to install SimplyPats, please contact us for a interim beta version.

Richard.

Hi Richard,

Would the future release of Windows 8.1 pose any issues with SP 7 ? (Think MS have just tidied it up a bit ! lol )

Andy

Hi Andy

We tried to look at installing Windows 8.1 on Friday but ran out of time.

I really hope we don't have any issues, the biggest changes with Windows 8 and SimplyPats is the locations where the program is installed, where you can store your data and lastly where components used by the program are installed. As I'm sure you are aware Microsoft has been changing the locations of where system components, program components and data can be installed. All good fun!

We will try Windows 8.1 as soon as possible to get a heads up.

Hope your beta copy of SimplyPats 7 is still behaving itself?

Many thanks for all your effort in helping us test SimplyPats 7, it is much appreciated.

Regards, Richard.

Hi Andy

Email received thanks, will have a look at your suggestions although will probably look at implementing them after the release of SimplyPats 7. They look like good ideas though.

We have found an issue with downloading the Primtest 300 which may affect you if you use all 4 notes fields on your tester. Bug 7 on our revision notes for SimplyPats 6.1.0

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=802

This only applies to the 300 and not the Primetest 350 as the latter tester has a different firmware.

This fix will obviously be in SimplyPats 7 when released.

Regards, Richard.

Just for information, SP7 works perfectly on Windows 8.1 Update 1 which is due for release by Microsoft in April 2014.

Hi Andy

Many thanks for the feedback re Windows 8.1 Update 1.

I will do a full build of 7.0.3 tomorow incase we cannot manage to get the Export DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files that are not properly registered working again.

Regards, Richard.
