When trying to enter RCD test results for an item that does not contain RCD in the description, SimplyPats stops working and closes down. Running SP 7.06 and Win 7.

Hi John

Thanks for the report. I will check it out and see what is going wrong. I can't remember intentionally editing the RCD code recently so wonder if it has been there for a while.

Once ive checked it I will get back to you.

Regards, Richard

Hi John

Ive done a bit of testing and couldnt seem to get it to crash on entering an RCD result of an appliance without RCD in the description.

However if I turned on the facility to enter both 0 and 180 degree phase results and then entered a non numeric value such as 5ms in the 180 phase, I got an error message and then a crash.

Were you entering 180 degree results? When you entered values were you just putting the value e.g. 5 or were you adding ms at the end (entering 5ms)?

I will do some more testing and put a trap in for the 180 phase box anyway.

Regards, Richard

Richard

I was entering both 0 and 180 degree results but only put a figure in, albeit with a decimal e.g. 26.7

Hi John,

I have put a trap in this morning for the 180 degree phase result to check that it is a numeric entry. I have also got Carl on the case doing some more rigorous testing to see if we can identify any more errors.

Regards, Richard.

Richard

To my embarrassment, I put the figures in again today, in exactly the same way as yesterday evening, and there was no problem, even with a decimal point. So why I had issues yesterday I cannot explain. Anyway, all seems fine now so case closed.

Many thanks for your prompt response and, as always, excellent customer service.

Regards

John

Hi John

Many thanks for your feedback.

I'm sure there was bug with the 180 phase entry as it wasn't checking for a numeric value. Even entering a value with a space after it was causing it to stop the program. I have added a fix for this in the next update SimplyPats 7.0.7. In the meantime I will try and do some more testing just in case I have missed something. Please let me know if you have issues again.

Regards, Richard.
