PAT Testing Labels

PLEASE NOTE: The Print PAT Label option in SimplyPats does not print out PAT Labels in all their colourful glory, at this present time it will only over print certain information onto pre designed A4 sized stock label sheets, such as the ones shown in the image below.

Before you start, you will need to purchase Label Stock

Three of the Label Templates are designed to over print on PAT Labels supplied on A4 sheets, this is ideal if you want to utilise a home or office A4 ink jet or laser printer.

A4 Label Stock currently Supported (in Version 6.0.5) are;

1000 PAT Testing Labels Personalised Green (PCO1)
1500 Plug PAT Testing Labels Pers. Green (PC06)
500 Cable Wraps PAT Testing Labels Pers. Green (PC12)
All of these Labels are available from and come in various colours and finish.

You will now need the Label Templates for SimplyPats V6

The PAT Label templates are not supplied with SimplyPats as standard, you will need to download and install the PAT Label Templates manually from the SimplyPats Version 6 Download Section (Link Below).

Please read the installation instructions on the download page before downloading any files as certain reports will need to be installed manually.

Download the Labels from the download section of our forum by clicking on the following link. You will need a SimplyPats Forum Account and be logged in before you can assess the download files.

Printing PAT Labels in SimplyPats (from an existing Data File – i.e. Retesting)

You have the option of over printing information onto your PAT Testing Labels from scratch or by using data from an existing PAT data file.

If you are using an existing PAT Data file you will need to select the Appliances that you want to print PAT Labels for. You can do this by using the usual Left Mouse Click / Shift or Alt Key combination or if you want to print PAT Labels for all the Appliance s in the current file, simply Right Mouse Click and choose Select All Records.

In the screen shot below I have selected individual Appliances by holding down the Alt key on my keyboard while Left Mouse clicking all of the Appliances that I want to select.

When you are ready to print your PAT Labels click Tools on the File Menu and choose Print PAT Labels, you will now see the following screen.

Before continuing, make sure you have the correct PAT Label Template selected from the drop down menu situated above the Print Preview area, to help we have included an image of the PAT Label currently selected in the bottom left.

Various options are also available on the left, check that all of the information to be printed onto your PAT Labels is correct, if you need to make any changes you will need to update and apply those changes by pressing the refresh (RFresh) button.

If you are printing PAT Labels for the first time, we would recommend that you print on blank paper. Once printed place the paper on top of the Label Sheets and hold both up to the light to check if everything lines up.

Once you are happy, load your PAT Label Sheets into your printer and do a proper print run by clicking the Print button.

Printing PAT Labels in SimplyPats (from scratch – no existing data)

If you want to print a new run of PAT Labels from scratch i.e. For a new customer or for appliances that have not been tested, this is also possible from the Tolls > Print PAT Labels screen, however make sure that you DO NOT have a PAT Data File loaded. If you do have a PAT Data file loaded, on the File Menu click File > Close File.

Bring up the Print PAT Labels window from the File Menu (Tools > Print PAT Labels)

You will notice that the PAT Label Print Preview area and Appliance Id list are both blank.

Choose your preferred PAT Label Template from the drop down menu situated above the Print Preview area.

Enter the Engineer Initials and check that the Test Date, Company Name and Date Format are correct.

In the Start Number field enter your start Appliance Id (We recommend that you get used to using unique Appliance Ids for all Appliances regardless of customer), enter the quantity of PAT Labels required, set the Format with Zeros option based on you preference and enter a Retest Period.

Press the Auto button to generate the label information, you will now see the following message asking if you would like to create a SimplyPats PAT Data File based on the information used for the PAT Testing Labels you are about to print;

If you are using Manual Entry, this may offer a very quick way to generate a large number of Appliance Entries into a PAT Data file ready for adding the actual PAT Test Results or Status by double clicking on any of the entries or Right Mouse clicking in the PAT Test results area and choosing Edit Manual Results.

Choosing Yes will create a PAT Data file for you (shown below). It may be worth noting that you do not actually need to print any labels if you don’t want to, this feature can be used just to generate a Manual Entry PAT Data file only if preferred.
Before exiting the Print PAT Labels screen, don’t forget to print the actual labels.

Information such as Description, Site and Location can easily be entered individually via the main screen or by using the Bulk Replace feature.
