A minor point Both V6 and V7 will crash and close the program. This occurs when you select : Help : System Information.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. System Patched (Windows Update) as of 14/05/13

Regards,

Andy Williams

Hi Andy

Sorry to hear it's crashing on the System Information screen.

The System Information screen is trying to show the following information:

    1) The Version of Microsoft Word you are using.

    2) The Email Program that you are using.

    3) Some system information about the Hardware (cpu, memory free etc)

    4) A list of the dynamic link libraries and ocx's which are installed by SimplyPats

Normally SimplyPats will report an error before the program crashes, and if it is a known error it hopefully is trapped by the program. However it sounds as though your's is crashing without any reporting.

Can you let me know what version of Microsoft Office (and also if it's 64 bit) you are using and which Email program.

Did this screen fall over on your PC before the Windows Update you mentioned?

It is possible that either you have a version of office or email program we are not properly detecting or it is due to us not reading the PC's registry correctly.

Either way we will try and replicate it here and find a solution.

Regards, Richard.

Hi Richard,

Microsoft Office 2013 64 bit

Outlook 2013, however this is not configured as I do not use it.

The screen fell over before and after the Windows Update (patches)

Many thanks,

Andy

Hi Andy

It may be the 64 bit edition of Microsoft Office 2013 which is SimplyPats is not recognising correctly. I suspect the registry entries for office 64 bit will be in a different location to those for the 32 bit version.

I will purchase a copy so that we can try and trace the fault. (The latest version we are using here is Microsoft Office 2010 32 Bit)

I will post once again we have tried out a copy.

Regards Richard.

Hi Andy

We finally received our copy of Microsoft Office 2013 today and have installed it on our test Windows 8 PC. The System Information screen worked fine prior to the install of Office, now it is crashing.

Now I can replicate the error, hopefully I will be able to find and fix what is causing it. I'll post on here as soon as I have a solution.

Regards, Richard.

Hi Andy

I think we have now fixed that......, it will be in the next update 6.1.0 due later this year, however if you would like an interim beta version of 6.1.0 then please contact us.

We will still need to do some testing on using SimplyPats with Office 2013 to see if there are any other issues.

Regards, Richard.

Just and update on this thread.

I have had to make some changes to the way SimplyPats automatically writes Mircosoft Word (tm) documents as there have been some changes in Microsoft Office 2013. The next upgrade of SimplyPats 6 Version 6.1.0 contains a fix to ensure compatibility with Microsoft Word 2013.

If you have updated your Microsoft Office suite to the 2013 version and use the automatic word document creation features in SimplyPats then please give us a call for an interim update.

Hi Andy,

I'm not in the office tomorow and have done some amendments over the weekend, so will build a beta on Tuesday if that's ok?

Hopefully the System Information screen will now respond correctly with your version of MS Office (tm).

Regards, Richard.
