Hi Libertee

Im not a pat tester as we only write the SimplyPats software however we will duplicate this post in the Pat Testing In General section of our forum incase some of the more expert testers on here can give some advice.

Can you tell us what PAT tester you are using and some info about the Parts Washer. Is it 240V and connected via a domestic plug? Does it contain water? Sounds as though it should be a class I item?

What problems are you having testing it?

Hi Libertee

It may be advisable for you to purchase the IEE Code of Practice for In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Section 11.1.1 covers Class I typical construction showing the basic insulation and earthed metal on page 54.

I can’t give you any advice on testing the washer but hopefully one of our experienced testers have come across this before and can help.

Regards,
Lorna
