Thanks for your post, I have just fired up our Robin SmartPat and plugged in the bar code wand. Im assuming you are using the Hewlet Packard wand that comes with the PAT?
When prompted for the Enter Appliance Number passing the wand over a barcode (our are in a format known as 3 of 9 which is commonly used for PAT testing labels) the appliance id is entered and the PAT tester beeps, you are then prompted for Enter Test Type passing the wand over the barcode of test types in the lid of the SmartPAt then scans that Test Code. After the end of the test you are prompted to Enter Notes if Req, however the barcode wand doesn't seem to scan anything at this point.
I guess your scanner could be broken? Check to see if has Hewlett Packard on it and its the barcode wand that came with the PAT as the scanners are often wired specifically for each PAT tester. Does the red light at the tip of the scanner come on?
