Hi im new here so this is my first post for help.

I currently have a pat 4 dv3 and i have just purchased a barcode printer for it. In the instructions it tells me to hold the "p" button while powering up the tester to activate a menu which allows me to select the barcode printer.

This does not happen there is no menu appearing.

Can anyone help me?

Hi vwcr

Richard will be in the office shortly and will probably know the answer to your question as he has far more experience of the Megger PAT4 than I do however in the mean time I will try to find some more information for you.

After looking at our Megger PAT4 DV3 I can confirm that holding the “p” key down while powering up does activate the Print menu, just make sure you keep the key pressed while the PAT goes through the self-test phase on start up.

If this doesn’t work, give Megger or if you prefer us a call so we can go through some trouble shooting options.

Ours is fairly old now, but its running 1.3e

You may want to give Megger a quick call to see if you need to download a firmware update.

No problem Mike, glad to be of assistance.

We do try to help out where we can, even if the questions or topics are non SimplyPats software related.
We do have to be careful when dealing with hardware issues as we are not really qualified to answer or advise on specific PAT Tester issues, these are sometimes better left to the manufacturer as we wouldn’t want to be held responsible for any damage to your PAT Tester.

However offering assistance on this particular subject posed little or no risk.

We of course do offer complete support for our own SimplyPats software and part of this support also means that we get to offer support on a vast number of PAT testers from all of the main manufacturers such as Seaward, Metrel, Fluke, Kewtech and Megger etc.

Hope you get it sorted, it would be interesting to know the outcome. If you get chance mybe you can update this thread when you know more.

Hi Mike

Sounds like your Megger PAT4 maybe a DV1 (the first revision), I believe I am right in saying that Megger need to do a hardware upgrade to convert it to a Megger DV3.

Again, I think im correct in saying that the fundemental difference between the later revision and the earlier one is the ability to set the test limits in line with the revised IET code of practice. Think this is on the settings for Earth Continuity.

We do have some users using the older Megger PAT4 DV1 (as SimplyPats will download from both revions of the tester) however I'm not sure what settings the apply to the test limits.

Regards, Richard.

Just thought i would update this thread that my pat 4 had to go back to megger for a software and hardware upgrade and is now working perfectly.

Can anyone tell me why the roll of barcode labels have one sticker with a black box on and the printer only uses one label?

Anyways thanks for all the help

Hi Mike

Glad you got your PAT4 back from Megger and that it's now working ok.

I'm a bit lost on this one, are these labels you use with a label printer attached to your Megger PAT4?

Often labels that go through a label printer have a black box printed on the reverse of the label in order to help the label printer align the label for the cutting mechanism, (whether that be automatic or a serated blade to manually cut the label off the roll)

Regards, Richard.
