Hi, With the ordinary multiplug you can assign 8 continuity cycles to get your 8 plugs tested.
How do you do this when a RCD in on the male plug? Trying to set up a test procedure on a
PAT 420.

Hi Bonedry

Are you referring to the following type of extension lead with RCD?

http://www.bunnings.co.nz/hpm-8-outlet- ... _p00246276

Can you not do the RCD test as a separate test after the multiple continuities?

(Note! We write SimplyPats software and do not test in the field so please bear that in mind, also we are UK based so devices such as that above are not common here.)

Any of our other users shed any light on this? or have you contacted Megger to see if they have any advice?

Hi Richard,
Yes right gear, but I was trying to get the megger 420 to do the 8 continuity tests then move on to the RCD full test automatically in sequence rather than do separate tests.
Regards

Hi Bonedry

Ok I understand, not sure if you can do it though. (off the top of my head)

However if I get 5 minutes tomorow I will power up our Megger PAT420 and see if it is possible to create a test sequence with multiple continuities and the RCD in.

Regards, Richard.

Hi Bonedry

I've had a few minutes to check out our Megger PAT420. First of all I checked that I was using the PAT in expert mode. (You can set this by going into the USERS tab from the Main Screen on the PAT)

1) From the SETUP tab choose the top key, (labelled with Ohms, Mega Ohms and VA symbols

2) Then on the Test Group screen, Press Add Hotkey to Add a Test group (the key labelled with a plus symbol) See below:

3) Enter a test group name and a friendly description. Then Select Earth Bond or Continuity (dependent on whether you want to test at mA's or A's and the RCD ensuring the test types are ticked. See Below:

4) Press the Key on the right with the Page Down symbol (this only appears after you have entered a description and test group name) Now set the number of cycles you wish the continuity test to be done. See below.

5) Finally save your new test group by pressing the Key with the Floppy Disk.

Hopefully that will work for you, I haven't tested it here as I don't have a multi plug with built in RCD.

Let us know how you get on, Regards, Richard.

Hi Laurence

Glad to help, it's also taught me something!

Not sure if you are using our software (Simplypats) but if so you may find you only get one continuity result (the last) downloaded.

I have added the ability to store and show multiple continuity results within SimplyPats in the last year or so but not to every tester that has the capability of performing multiple tests of the same type.

The Megger 420 csv data can output up to 10 continuity or bond results. As soon as needed I can add the ability to display and store multiple continuities for this tester within our software.

Regards, Richard
