 Post subject: Fluke 6500

I tried to download some test results onto SimplyPats 5, but when pressing the download icon at the software inmediately an error code 8020 comes up. I do have a converter cable from serial to USB installed which I purched with the tester/software kit.

Hi Tenti

Thanks for your post - sorry to hear about the error message. Just to explain the error 8020 is "Error reading comm device" this would suggest that there are problems with the USB Serial Converter or the Drivers installed for it. It is also possible that some other software installed on your PC is interupting communications between the PAT Tester and the PC.

The Fluke 6500 is an excellent PAT Test Machine and usually doesn;t have any download issues. We have sold hundreds of copies of SimplyPats Version 5 for use with this PAT Tester, so we are confident there are not any outstanding download issues with this tester and our software.

I am not sure how confident you are with the settings on your PC but it may be worth checking that the correct drivers for the USB serial converter are installed and also you could try changing the Com Port number which the USB serial converter is assigned to.

Im not sure where you bought your PAT Tester and the USB to serial converter but we have USB Serial converters which we know work with a range (20 plus) of different manufacturers PAT Testers.

By the way the support for SimplyPats is free and so is the 0845 number if you are dialing from a BT landline.
