If you receive the following error message when downloading from your Seaward Europa or Supernova PAT Tester (including the Plus Versions)

Date: 12/10/2009 13:40:16
Error Code: 6
Description: Overflow
In Unit: DownloadData - Read SSS File
Version: x.x.x

Please check the following.

Download Destination

Make sure that the Seaward Supernova or Europa Download Cable is plugged into the correct connection on your PAT Tester, this should be labelled PC or RS232.

Download Cable

Make sure you are using the correct download cable, the Seaward PAT Download Cable Wiring/Pin configuration can be found in the SimplyPats Help file under the Technical Information > Wiring the Download Cable section.

If using a USB to Serial Converter

Try to use the USB to Serial Converter that we recommend

These have been proven to work with all the PAT Testers that SimplyPats supports and is also supplied with a robust and reliable Driver for Windows XP and Vista and Windows 7.

Please Note that you will also need to use the Seaward Download Cable (mentioned above) between the PC and the USB to Serial Converter.

If you are using one that you have purchased yourself, check that the Drivers are installed and that the device is listed as working correctly under the Windows Device manager.

You may also want to try Ticking or Un-Ticking the option USB to Serial Converter on the Settings > System Settings screen in SimplyPats. This is only available if you are using or have set the PAT Tester to Seaward - Europa or Supernova Plus in the Settings > System Settings screen.

Correct PAT Tester Selected

Check that you have the Correct PAT Tester Selected under the Settings > System Settings Screen in SimplyPats, this should be set to Seaward - Supernova or Europa or Seaward - Supernova or Europa Plus depending on the model of PAT Tester you have.

If you are using an older Europa Plus, you may also want to try ticking the Europa+ Old Firmware option under the Settings System Settings screen.

Baud Rate

The Baud Rate listed under the Settings > System Settings screen of Simplypats should match the Baud rate set on your Seaward Supernova or Europa PAT Tester.

Download Format

SimplyPats Downloads Data from the Seaward Supernova and Europa PAT Testers in Seaward SSS Format.

You can view and change the Download Format on the Download Options Screen during the Download Process.

Temp Download File

To help us Diagnose the Problem further, It would be helpful if you can email us the Temp Seaward Download.txt file if one has been created.

If it has been created, the file will be in the Temp Folder in your SimplyPats 5 install Directory. If you installed SimplyPats to the default location this will be;

C:\Program Files\SimplyPats 5\Temp

The file should be called Temp Seaward Download.txt

Simply attach the file to an email giving your Company Name, Contact Name and Contact Number.

If you continue to have issues after trying the above, please contact support by phone or email giving as much detailed information as possible.
