Guys, Could you please can you let me know what settings I should be using on my Metrel BetaPat 3304 to test IT equipment.

I have not bricked anything so far but am a bit nervous.

Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony

First be advised that I am not a tester as I only write the SimplyPats software, however maybe some of our users can confirm what I say? The Metrel BetaPat Plus MI3304 allows you to test I.T. equipment with more appropriate settings to reduce the possibility of any damage.

In my experience when testing I.T. kit people usually carry out the Earth Continuity test at 200mA rather than 10A or 25A. Similarly when conducting an Insulation test this can be carried out at 250V rather than 500V.

If you have the MI3304 manual look at the Autotest short codes on Page 89. (the manual seems to suggest Earth continuity being carried out at 100mA however our tester seems only to have 200mA, in any event both are fine.)

You can of course setup your own custom tests to ensure you have the appropriate settings (outputs in terms of mA and V for continuity and insulation) and also the pass limits.

Regards, Richard

Hi Lodds,

If you are in AUS or NZ and have the AUS/NZ firmware installed on your machine try the 125 test code.

I use the Alpha Pat unit with this test code for IT equipment.

Cheers

Glenn
