Hello all.

I've been looking into this PAT tester (Metrel DeltaPAT MI3309)

I believe you can connect it to your phone somehow and use the keyboard to enter the description?
Is this true?

Thank you
Adam Reed

Hi Adam,

We have a Metrel DeltaPAT MI3309 in the office and with our model you can definitely not connect it to a mobile phone to enter the appliance description. Having said that I have heard rumours that Metrel are releasing updated models of various PAT Testers in the UK which have bluetooth connectivity. As I understand it, some of the Models shipped to Australia and New Zealand have had this feature, but don't quote me!

If you do a search on the Google App store, Metrel have recently released some app's for their Multi Function Testers which allow bluetooth connectivity.

It certainly would be interesting to see connectivity between a phone or tablet and a PAT tester, I will ask the guys in the office to do some research next week and see if their are some new developments.

Regards, Richard.

Hi Richard

Thanks for the quick reply, the only reason i ask is because in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG3kWOWSEo0 (at 2:19) He talks about using a mobile device to add item details. I believe he is on about using a USB to connect it to the phone or similar device.

I will do some research as well, cheers.

Hi Adam,

Thanks for posting the youtube link it explains alot. Sounds like you need a bluetooth dongle to connect to the DeltaPat. Guess the DeltaPat will then be bluetooth enabled to connect to a phone or tablet.

I will ask Carl to ring Metrel on Monday and purchase one (cost permitting) to have a play with. If we can get hold of one I'll post some information.

Regards, Richard.

I had a look at this, in December, when I went into Metrel for a ReCal.

It will connect via BT, subject to a dongle, but a "facelift" model is due out with the connectivity being inbuilt.

Hi Allan

Thanks for the info. Would be good to have a play with the facelift model of the DeltaPat when it comes out to see what it offers in terms of bluetooth comunication.

As Carl has posted, we have emailed Metrel to see if we can find out some specifications.

Regards, Richard.

Is it me or do Metrel take ages to reply to emails?

Hi Adam,

I've never had a reply. Good luck.

I'm disappointed with Metrel's customer service if I am honest. It's been exactly a week since I emailed them and still nothing at all. Makes me wonder if I had an issue with one of their testers how long it would take for them to sort it!

I think ill look elsewhere..

Hi Adam

Thats a shame the DeltaPat seems to be a good tester and if they are updating it to allow bluetooth communication it should be interesting.

There is the elex trade show http://www.elexshow.info/ which I'm sure Metrel will have a stand. We are planning to go when the show visits Exeter at the end of April this year. You may want to see if there is an event nearer you.

At least there is a chance to see their testers and talk to the guys on the stand.

Regards, Richard.
