Uploading to the Metrel BetaPat Plus MI3304, OmegaPat Plus MI3305 and SigmaPat MI3310

It has taken me a while in getting around to looking at uploading data from SimplyPats back to the Metrel BetaPat Plus MI3304, OmegaPat Plus MI3305 and SigmaPat MI3310 PAT testers, however in the last couple of weeks I have made some progress.

The upload back to these machines will be restricted to the following information,

    Site
    Location
    Appliance id
    Appliance Description
    User
    Test Date
    Test Codes
    Retest Period
    Repairing Code
    Comments

The upload will most likely suit PAT testing contractors where the PAT Tester data is being cleared after doing a job. Prior to testing at the same site the descriptive data from last year can be uploaded back to the tester.

The ability to upload historical test results, and to update existing appliances will be unlikely to be added within the upload from SimplyPats version 6 back to these testers.

I will add to this post as testing of the upload process progresses, however with luck the ability to upload to the Metrel BetaPat Plus MI3304, OmegaPat Plus MI3305 and SigmaPat MI3310 will be added in the next SimplyPats upgrade 6.0.6 due later this year.

Richard.

Uploading Data to BetaPat Plus OmegaPat Plus and SigmaPat

We have been testing the upload from SimplyPats to the BetaPat Plus OmegaPat Plus and SigmaPat and encountering a few strange problems.

Once the data is uploaded, the only way in which you appear to be able to re test the appliances is using the Project Autotests option from the Main Menu of the PAT tester.

Whilst this works fine, when you download the tester again you get 2 test results for the same appliance, one blank i.e. no test results, and one with the new test results attached.

We will have to investigate further but it may affect releasing the upload feature to these testers in the next release 6.0.6.

Has any one used the upload feature with the Manufactuer's software to these testers?

Richard.

Post Release Overview

Upload data to Metrel OmegaPat Plus (MI3305), BetaPat Plus (MI3304) and SigmaPat (MI3310) PAT Testers

The following applies to UK Firmware versions only. Upload to the New Zealand / Australia firmware Metrel PAT testers is not yet supported.

SimplyPats Version 6.0.6 (released June 2012) will now give users the option to upload data back to their Metrel OmegaPat Plus (MI3305), BetaPat Plus (MI3304) or SigmaPat (MI3310) PAT Tester, however there are a few prerequisites before this feature can be used.

Data to be uploaded to any of these PAT Testers must have originated from the same model of tester that it was originally downloaded from. We would recommend that the PAT Tester also has the same firmware revision installed.

Data must have originally been downloaded from the PAT Tester in Metrel + format.

Please note that the actual Test Results recorded in the SimplyPats Data file that you are uploading from are NOT uploaded back to the PAT Tester.

While this is not necessary, we strongly recommend that you always use a unique Appliance Id for every appliance you test and record. This is especially important if you are planning to upload data to the Metrel PAT Testers this guide refers to.

An example of NOT using unique Appliance Id’s would be a contractor testing for multiple customers and using Appliance Ids 001, 002, 003 etc for one customer and then using the same 001, 002, 003 Appliance Ids for another customer and so on.

Due to the way uploaded data is stored in the PAT, we recommend that you clear the PAT memory before uploading. While this is not strictly necessary, uploading data to a PAT Tester that already contains existing data may lead to multiple entries for any given appliance being downloaded the next time you transfer data to SimplyPats. This is especially important if you are not using unique appliance Id’s for ALL of the appliances you test, regardless of customer.

The upload process does not clear the PAT.

Uploaded Appliances to not overwrite any data stored in the PAT Tester, if the Appliance Id already exists a duplicate entry for that Appliance Id will be created.

When a Project Auto-Test is run it creates a duplicate asset and does not overwrite the uploaded asset.

Other information NOT uploaded include Test data and Fail reason

For full upload instructions, please refer to the SimplyPats Help File within the software itself, this is available from the File Menu by clicking Help and choosing Contents. Use the menu on the left to select Uploading to Your PAT and click on the Uploading to The Metrel BetaPat OmegaPat Plus or Metrel SigmaPat options further down the page.
