Hi,

Sorry for the really stupid question, I'm new to PAT testing.

I'm trying to test a printer. I have plugged the printer into the tester and started the test, but it is asking me to switch the printer on and the test is failing. It does not have a physical on/off switch, only a button you can use when power is supplied. Obviously I can't supply any power because the printer is plugged into my battery powered tester.

How do I test the printer?

Thanks!

Hi hollerz

Which battery powered tester do you have?

You might find it useful to read the following article about Earth leakage tests, it explains the issues involved where appliances have electronic switches.
